Domestic goddess? Washer woman? Gardener? I’m none of the above. However I think I outdid myself this time. Three things happened to me this week.
I have shared with you I often do something that my husband calls “doing a Caz”. A verb for when things just go wrong for no particular reason but always seem to happen to me. And this happened to me not once, but three times this week. What is the universe trying to tell me here?
Incident 1. I was pretty tired one day so along with getting the sheets etc from the spare room to wash I unknowingly also picked up a pillow. I did think at the time “gee the washing machine is pretty full today”. It was only until I took the load out that I realised I had washed the whole pillow!!!
Incident 2. I thought it would be a great idea to get on top of the washing as it as a pretty warm day. However what I didn’t think about was the wind. Bad for bushfires and bad for me. So I put our doona cover out on the balcony thinking smugly that it would only take 30 minutes or so to dry. Then the washing hanger shifted and started to move (along with the look of horror on my face) and my doona cover was whisked by the wind off the balcony and down the street. After shrieking I got my keys and ran as quickly as I could (I’m not much of a sprinter… but perhaps this day I was.) No sign of a runaway doona cover…until I saw it heading for the the beach. So I was that crazy lady, picking her bed linen off the side of the road and walking up the street back to the washing machine again, but today, drying inside now seemed like a better idea.
Incident 3. And oh the usual…. I swear I had washed the items in the washing load multiple times (seriously!!) …but it didn’t look like it when the load came out…and my daughter’s pink swimmers and clothes were all well….grey-ish. I think my talent for turning clothing another colour has often worked in my favour. My husband often does the washing (I think it is to preserve anything white in his wardrobe) but “Caz” strikes again. Over to you hubby for the next wash….might be safer.
So do you have bad washing days? Are you a domestic goddess or more a non-goddess like me?
