I have always been skeptical of those people who said it took an hour to get out of the house.
I assumed they were flaffers. Figured they probably took an hour to do their makeup, select an outfit and find their keys.
Ermm…I was so judgy.
Now I have two toddlers I understand.
One will only wear pink. Not light pink, not dark pink but bright pink (is there any other pink in a toddler’s eyes?)
The other likes to undress.
This is how our morning went.
Little Miss Raj: “No mummy not these pants I want PINK pants”
Me: “Well you only have two pairs and both are in the wash so you will need to wear these.” Cue tanty – head down, bum up, crying.
Next I look at Baby Raj who I have found some clothes that fit since she is growing “go go gadget” arms and legs at a speed her wardrobe can’t keep up with and quickly slip them on.
Within 2 second of trying to get Little Miss Raj to stop crying I turn around. Shoes, socks and pants off. Arrghh.
Next is to find those shoes, socks and pants.
One was hidden precisely under that pants that Little Miss Raj refuses to wear. Not only does she like to undress. It is also fun to hide the clothes.
I finally find some old pants that are slightly short but they’ll do – at least are pink. Then it is the socks.
Little Miss Raj: No mummy. Not those socks. Not those socks.
Me: Well these are all the sock you have. I don’t like them – none of them? You have two choices- choose one. NOW!
Baby Raj as removed shoes again.
After putting shoes on and just leaving Little Miss Raj to mull over whether she wants to leave the house today with no socks I try and find my keys.
Baby Raj has removed shoes and socks and got stuck taking off her cardy. Cue wailing as her arm is stuck in the cardy.
Still can’t find my keys.
Little Miss Raj decided on socks. Yes we have an outfit.
Baby Raj is dressed – albeit without shoes. She can go without shoes. I’ll put them on at the other end. Seriously too hard. Shoes are overrated right?
Found keys. Lets go.
All in all – that was 30 minutes of my life I will never get back.
I won’t go into the fact I forgot in all the kerfuffle the nappy wallet and my glasses. I was just excited to get out of the house two “almost” dressed toddlers and MY clothes they were clean – for now. When people are late to meet me and have no kids I seriously would like them to live a morning getting out of the house with 2 toddlers.
The struggle is real my friend. Very real.
Do you have the same fun getting out of the house? Do you have a child that only will wear one colour?
